Staffordshire Bull Terrier Heritage

The True Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Preserving the breed’s history, bloodlines, working heritage, and original identity.

Support the Preservation

Welcome

This project is dedicated to preserving the authentic Staffordshire Bull Terrier — the dog built on courage, stability, athletic ability, and a heritage shaped by working men long before the show ring existed. Through research, documentation, and community support, we aim to protect the breed’s remaining bloodlines, historical strains, and true identity.

Why This Project Exists

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier has changed dramatically since its recognition in 1935. Many of the original Foundation lines are extinct, the working strains are fading, and modern show trends have pushed the breed away from its functional roots. This project — supported by our YouTube membership — exists to preserve the breed’s true history, structure, temperament, and working heritage before it is lost.

The True Stafford

The original Stafford was a balanced Bull-and-Terrier: athletic, agile, courageous, and structurally functional. The 1935 standard reflected this moderate, working-type dog. Today’s show trends often exaggerate features, reducing athleticism and altering type. Our goal is to keep the true Staffordshire Bull Terrier alive through accurate information, historical documentation, and bloodline preservation.
